Trench Decay: Lore and Factions
Understand the fictional Eternal War and the groups your squad encounters. The lore overview keeps alternate history separate from a real World War I timeline. Factions explains trade, work, and hostility, while distinguishing the game world from player-created Divisions.

Read the setting, then the relationship
The player enlistment belongs to the game fiction. The faction directory adds practical distinctions: Nomad trade, Oathkeeper work, and New Order hostility. Read the overview for the setting and the faction article for the group interaction you are trying to understand. A narrative identity is not automatically a player-guild requirement.
Factions do not all serve the same interaction: The Nomads trade scavenged weapons and Gun Scrap, The Oathkeepers offer enemy-clearing work, and The New Order is hostile. Those differences give a faction name practical meaning while the larger Eternal War story remains fictional context.
